Between Aina Haina and Hawaii Kai, just past Hawaii Loa Ridge, sits Niu Valley — a quiet, mostly residential pocket of around 400 homes on generous lots, with easy access to both Kahala and Hawaii Kai and a short, reasonable commute into town.

Most homes in Niu Valley were built between the 1950s and 1970s on generous lots that climb the sides of the valley, with elevated home sites on both the left and right as you head mauka. Prices generally run between about $1.5 million and $2.8 million, and because homes here rarely hit the open market, well-priced listings tend to move fast.
Niu Valley shares its western border with Hawaii Loa Ridge and its eastern edge blends into Hawaii Kai, which makes it a genuinely convenient home base — close enough to Kahala and Waialae Country Club to the west, and close enough to Hawaii Kai's shopping and marina life to the east, without the price tag of either.
Down toward the water, the Niu Peninsula and Niu Beach area offer a smaller collection of waterfront and near-waterfront homes, distinct from the valley homes further mauka. These properties, along with Kawaikui Beach Park nearby, are part of what makes this stretch of coastline a quieter alternative to the busier beach parks further east in Hawaii Kai.
The Niu Valley Shopping Center covers everyday needs with a handful of restaurants and shops, and Waldorf School of Hawaii serves families in the neighborhood looking for a private school option close to home. Kawaikui Beach Park gives residents a quiet, local spot on the water without needing to drive into Hawaii Kai or Kahala. It's about a 25-minute commute to Downtown Honolulu outside of peak traffic.
